You need to know exactly what you are aiming for with your PR campaign before you even start. There are lots of great results that you can achieve with PR – raising your profile, increasing your influence, positioning yourself as an expert in your industry to name just a few. Decide exactly what it is that you hope to achieve and think about how you’re going to get there.

Do your homework

Before you start getting in touch with media outlets, you need to do your research. Which publications are a good match for you and your business? Think about which media outlets might be interested in hearing from you and work out a hit list of places to target.

Work on your PR strategy

When you are embarking on a PR campaign you need to think about which PR activities you want to carry out. Will you send press releases, will you hold a press event, what about utilising blogs and social media to get PR coverage? Think about what you an incorporate into your PR campaign and what is going to work best for you and bring the best results.

Shout about your success

Once you do get some media coverage it’s important to capitalise on it. So you should be shouting about it from the rooftops! With every piece of PR coverage that you achieve, think about ways you can publicise it. After all, this is the reward for all your hard work, so tell the world!
