How to grow your list and get more sales with a free report

Have you heard people talking about their email list and wondered what it is and whether you need one? Or perhaps you have one but you’re looking to grow it?

If so take a look at these tips for growing your list and getting more sales…

Write a free report and watch your list grow!

An email list is what you use to stay in touch with your existing and potential clients. When people visit your website or your Facebook or Twitter page, you need to ‘capture’ their email addresses so that you can stay in touch with them and keep them updated with your latest products, services and offers.

Why do you need to capture their email addresses? Well, what if someone visits your website, has a look around, is interested in what you do, and then leaves?

They may have had every intention of looking up your website again and getting in touch with you, but then they get busy, life gets in the way, and they forget all about it.

They may have been your ideal client. But now you’ll never know because you’ve lost your chance and you have no way of getting in touch with them…

Imagine if they came to your website, and gave you their email address and said they were happy to receive regular newsletters? They’re essentially giving you permission to regularly email them. After a few emails they get to know you, you build up a relationship with them. Before you know it they’ve become a customer and they’re spending their money with you. As time goes on you stay in touch with them and carry on selling your latest products and services to them.

The same goes for Twitter and Facebook. What if someone ‘likes’ your Facebook page and you think you’re marketing to them regularly, but your status updates stop showing up in their newsfeed? Or what if Facebook decides to shut down your page one day? (It’s happened to more than one business I know!)

If you capture their email addresses instead, you won’t have these problems.

So how do you get people to hand over their email address and their permission for you to contact them?

Giving away a free report to subscribers is one of the most effective ways to capture email addresses.

How do you go about creating a free report?

  • Think about something that your ideal clients would be interested in reading – Tops tips for…Seven secrets of…How to…55 reasons why…
  • Create a well-written report that speaks to your ideal clients and will make them want to continue receiving correspondence from you
  • Add the report to your website with a subscription box. You can integrate your subscription box with Mailchimp or Aweber or whichever email system you’re using
  • Hey presto, you’ll start collecting email addresses and building your list
